Mamma Andersson
Born in Luleå, 1962 and lives in Stockholm
Mamma Andersson studied from 1986 to 1993 at the Royal University College of Fine Arts in Stockholm, where she continues to live and work.
Inspired by filmic imagery, theatre sets, and period interiors, Andersson‘s compositions are often dreamlike and expressive.
In 2006, the artist won the Carnegie Art Award, a prestigious prize for Nordic contemporary painting, and she had a corresponding exhibition that travelled extensively in Europe. Her work was represented in the Nordic Pavilion at the 50th Venice Biennale (2003).
Andersson’s works are included in prominent collections internationally, including the Dallas Museum of Art, The Museum of Modern Art, New York, Moderna Museet, Stockholm, Centre Pompidou, Paris, France among others.
