Artist

Athenea Papacostas, born in Mexico City in 1989,is a feminist interdisciplinary artist and cultural agent whose practice exists at the intersection of materiality, performance, and relational art. Her work explores concepts such as authenticity, proximity, portability, language, pleasure, affect, and inhabiting. She studied Architecture (UNAM, 2009–2014), Museology (ENCRyM, 2014–2016) and Dance (RAD, 1994–2010). In recent years, she has incorporated collaborative and dialogue-based works with other artists, as well as fostering participatory actions.

Her practice has been enriched by collaborations with cultural institutions such as kurimanzutto (2014–2020), the Contemporary Ceramics Gallery (2016–2020), Museo Tamayo (2022), Museo Jumex (2022), ESPAC (2023–2024) and the National Museum of Housing, Munavi (2021–2023).
