Tauba Auerbach

Tauba Auerbach (American, b.1981) is a New York-based painter, photographer, printmaker, and installation artist. Throughout her wide-ranging body of work, Auerbach explores the relationships between written language and meaning, between two-dimensional and three-dimensional states, and between order and chance. Auerbach graduated in 2003 with a BA in visual art from Stanford University. She was a recipient of the SECA Art Award from the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art in 2008, and an Artist Research Fellowship from the Smithsonian Institution in 2011. Recently, she was included in the 2010 Whitney Biennial. Auerbach has had solo exhibitions at Paula Cooper Gallery, New York, NY (2012); Malmö Konsthall, Malmö, Sweden (2012); Bergen Kunsthall, Bergen, Norway (2011); Deitch Projects, New York, NY (2009); and Jack Hanley Gallery, San Francisco, CA (2008); among many others. She has also participated in group shows at institutions such as The Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY (2012); the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, MN (2012); the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco, CA (2010); and the New Museum, New York, NY (2010). She lives and works in New York.
