Benjamin Füglister

Benjamin Füglister, born in Switzerland, is characterised by his versatility as a creative and cultural entrepreneur. He studied interaction design at the Basel School of Art and completed a master’s degree in cultural management in Utrecht. Berlin was his creative and professional centre from 2004 to 2023. As an artist and designer, Füglister focuses on the critical observation of social standards and their visual interpretation, with photography as his main medium.

Professionally, he is involved in intercultural dialogue and transdisciplinary design. He has been a member of the editorial team of European Photography Magazine since 2006, and in 2012 he founded the international CAP Prize for African Photography, with which he has organised around 60 exhibitions worldwide. He was co-director of the IAF Basel Festival of Contemporary Art until 2021 and is a nominator for the prestigious Prix Pictet. He demonstrates his industry expertise as a member of the curatorial committee of the Photo Basel fair and as a juror for photography awards. Füglister is a member of Spectrum Photography Switzerland, the umbrella and network organisation for Swiss photography initiatives.
