Carlos Betancourt

Born in San Juan, 1966 and lives in Florida

Born (1966) in Puerto Rico and based in Florida. Having spent most of his artistic career in Miami, his works present a personal aesthetic blending elements of his Caribbean and African heritage with contemporary media and styles – paint, photography, mixed-media – creating dynamic and fragmented scenes.
His artwork is in numerous public collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC, the Miami Art Museum, the San Antonio Museum of Art in Texas, the Bass Museum of Art in Miami Beach, Museo de Arte Ponce in Puerto Rico, the Fort Lauderdale Museum of Art, amongst others. Betancourt’s artwork has been included in multiple solo and group exhibitions, as well as art fairs such as Art Basel and Arco.
