Francesco Candeloro
Francesco Candeloro was born in 1974 in Venice, the city where he studied and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts and where he currently lives and works. The artist places at the core of his practice the dimensions of light and colour, sign and shape, proportion, rhythm, and movement, using them as keys to explore spatial and temporal dynamics. For Candeloro, “art is a vision of time” — a vision he translates through the transparencies of coloured plexiglass, his chosen and most congenial material, used in the creation of the various types of works that make up his multifaceted practice.
In all of them, natural or artificial light is an essential component; as it passes through the translucent surfaces, it casts coloured, ever-changing shadows into the surrounding space. The preferred subjects of his artistic investigation are cities, landscapes, and portraits, through which he creates a universe of “multiple and multiplied visions” that capture the inner essence of the continuous flow of reality.
Francesco Candeloro has exhibited internationally in numerous solo and group exhibitions and installations in both architectural and landscape contexts, and his works are held in major private and public collections.
