Orianne Castel

Orianne Castel (Clermont-Ferrand, 1989) lives and works between Paris and Alpicella. A French artist, she holds a degree from the Academy of Fine Arts and a PhD in Philosophy. For the past ten years, she has worked with the “grid” format, using it variously as subject, framework, or constructive device in her practice. She has employed the grid across a wide range of experiments – including sculpture, installation, textile art, sound works, and painting – as well as within different artistic approaches: art with a social purpose, art with a spiritual aim, the psychological ambivalence within an intimate form of art, and painting itself at the center of a reflection on art for art’s sake.
