Germano Celant is internationally known for his theorization of Arte Povera. He is also the author of over one hundred publications, including books and catalogs, and the editor of hundreds of exhibitions in major international museums and institutions. From 1977 he has been contributing editor of the magazine “Artforum”, New York; from 1989 until 2008 it was Senior Curator of Contemporary Art at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York; from 1991 is contributing editor of “Interview” magazine, New York; from 1995 to 2014 he was director of the Prada Foundation, Milan; in 1996 he was artistic co-director of the first Biennale of Art & Fashion, Florence; in 1997 he was director of the 47th International Biennial of Art of Venice; since 1999 he has been responsible for the art column of the weekly “L’Espresso”, Rome; since 2000 he has edited the column dedicated to the visual arts for the monthly design magazine “Interni”, Milan; In 2001 he was commissioner of the Brazilian Pavilion at the 49th International Art Biennial from Venice; in 2004 he was artistic supervisor of the programming of the hundred events cultural events of “Genoa 2004, European Capital of Culture”; since 2005 he has been curator of the
Aldo Rossi Foundation, Milan, and since 2008 he has been the artistic and scientific curator of the Foundation Annabianca and Emilio Vedova, Venice. From 2009 to 2011 he was scientific director for Art and Architecture of the Milan Triennale. In 2015 he was curator of the exhibition “Arts & Foods. Rituals since 1851 ”for the Art Pavilion of Expo 2015 at the Milan Triennale. From 2015 he has been the Artistic and Scientific Superintendent of the Prada Foundation, Milan until his death.
