Artist
Charlotte Herzig
Charlotte Herzig (Vevey, Switzerland, 1983) lives and works in Brussels. Her practice expresses through painting, through which she explores the imaginary space behind the logical structure of daily life. For the artist, painting is a limitless explosion, an immensity to be explored, a dreamlike “elsewhere”. The frame of most of her works opens with a whimsical density in which volumes, curves, and cuts are organically mixed. The colourful planes overlap and sometimes invade the exhibition spaces in vast wall compositions. Her paintings are made of accumulations, games, and collages, giving the audience agency to create a personalised narrative.
Charlotte Herzig was the first artist to win the Nestlé Art Prize in 2016.
