CK Kum

CK Kum is an architect-artist with extensive artistic practice and curatorial experiences of over 20 years. He is the initiator of various independent collaborative and a regular proponent of inter-disciplinary practices in contemporary art. He graduated from National University of Singapore with a B.A. [A.S.] and a postgraduate degree in Architecture and gained his membership with BOA in 1996. CK has embarked on a self-directed course of art-education and received tutelage with 2nd generator masters WY Choy, Goh Beng-Kuan and Tan OePang. Under their guidance, he learned to draw influences from Eastern and Western arts, histories, aesthetics and find inspirations from our multi-cultural urban identities. CK is interested in an open approach that allows him to uncover new possibilities in visual/cultural resources and materials, and forge a fresh and distinctive idiom out of his two traditions. He firmly believes that contemporary art should have unique responsibilities in different contexts and take diverse paths.
