Elian Chali
Elian Chali (Córdoba, Argentina, 1988) is an artist, independent researcher and activist. His practice spans expanded painting, photography, performance and writing, as well as social activism and curatorial work within community-based projects.
With four solo exhibitions and numerous group shows, his projects have been presented in Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Cuba, Costa Rica, the United Arab Emirates, Spain, the United States, France, Germany, Italy, England, Morocco, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, Paraguay, Peru, Russia, the Dominican Republic, Uruguay, Ukraine, Taiwan and beyond.
His recent research examines the politics of bodily representation in culture and society, the intersections of singular forms of survival in urban contexts of the Southern Cone, and the political dimension of contemporary forms of distress.
As an activist for disability rights, he is a member of Torceduras & Bifurcaciones, a forum dedicated to political corporalities. He is also part of Hotel Inminente, adheres to AVAA and participates in organisations addressing institutional violence and the repressive apparatus of the State.
