Fabrice Langlade

Born in Reims (Champagne) in 1964, raised in Paris, Fabrice Langlade at a very young age learned from artists he encountered during his travels between Paris, Rio de Janeiro, New York, or Tokyo, weaving a thread that connects East and West, past and future, to the present. He works almost exclusively in sculpture.

Some of his works, such as “Un pont en porcelaine en mongolie” (A bridge in porcelain in Mongolia) or “Monsieur”, are installed within natural settings like the Orkhon Valley in Mongolia and the forest of Allain in Lorraine, and take on a monumental character. Others could be collected in a “cabinet of curiosities” manner, as the one in the Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature in Paris. For several years, the artist has developed research around concepts such as “White Studies” and “Floating Matters”. This work is mainly composed by a corpus of Debussyian bas-reliefs (“Floating Garden”, “Wild Orchids”), post-Hellenic pedestals (“Dionysos”, “Meta-Landscape”) and a chimeric-forest ensemble (“Une Île”, “Monsieur”3, “Chimères”).

Fabrice Langlade’s works have been exhibited in various galleries in France and elsewhere, in institutional contexts as well as in major international fairs such as Art Basel, Expo Chicago and Art Basel Miami. He is represented in public collections including Le Plateau Frac Île de France, the Kyoto Costume Institute, or the Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature in Paris.
