Hoda Kashiha
Hoda Kashiha, born in Tehran in 1986, began her artistic journey studying painting in her hometown before transferring to Boston University in the United States in 2014. After a period in the U.S., she returned to Iran in 2016, where she chose to live and create. Her international experiences broadened her artistic perspective and understanding of the world. At the age of 25, she was exposed to the expansive American art scene, significantly different from what she had known in Tehran. Her artistic style reflects a fusion of influences, blending elements of Cubism and cartoonish aesthetics, with a central focus on the socio-political landscape in Iran.
Kashiha’s paintings and installations draw inspiration from comic strips and cartoons, reminiscent of American Pop Art. However, instead of relying on thought bubbles to convey emotions, she emphasizes the expressiveness of gesture and color. Her artworks come alive with angular, round, expansive, and slender shapes, rendered in a vibrant chromatic palette that diverges from reality.
