Huong Dodinh
Born in Soc Trang, 1945
Huong Dodinh was born in 1945 in Soc Trang, a Vietnamese city in the Mekong Delta. Her parents leave their country to escape the war when Huong has only eight years and move to Paris. Huong discovers for the first time the beauty and the majesty of snowy landscapes as a student at the private college of Rambouillet.
Her career as an artist came from the vision of white snow melting with the winter sky. Huong Dodinh, a student at the School of Fine Arts in Paris, during the social demands of May 1968, spent the five decades isolated from the world, creating unique, pure, spiritual and without ever sharing them publicly.
The works of Huong Dodinh are full of spirituality. When he holds the brush in hand, the artist meditates. She is alone, in osmosis with the canvas, in full concentration and far from the outside world. Huong questions the concepts of light and lines. The composition
of the lines is central in the construction of his work. The relief often presents in her works allows her to give direction to the light. Through her unique technique, in which he accumulates various layers of painting and employs an artistic geometry, Huong gives a
singular depth to the canvas and a density that takes nothing away from the brightness of her works.
