Jessica Loughlin
Jessica Loughlin (Melbourne, 1975) is highly regarded for her quiet, understated approach to kiln-formed glass and for the unique way she engages with her material. Her works evoke a meditative state, reflecting her fascination with the beauty of emptiness.
Loughlin has been practising for over 18 years, exhibiting in numerous national and international exhibitions across the USA, UK, Germany, Italy, Singapore, and Australia.
She co-founded Gate 8, a not-for-profit organisation providing studio space for local professional artists. She travels frequently to teach masterclasses and has received numerous grants.
Loughlin has been recognised as “Outstanding New Artist in Glass” by UrbanGlass, New York, USA. She has been awarded the Tom Malone Art Prize twice (2004 and 2007) and the Ranamok Prize in Australia. Her works are held in major public collections worldwide, including the National Gallery of Australia; Queensland Art Gallery; Corning Museum of Glass, New York, USA; Mobile Museum of Art, Alabama, USA; MUDAC, Lausanne, Switzerland; and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, UK.
