Khaled Ramadan

Born in Beirut and lives in Cyprus, Egypt and Lebanon

Khaled Ramadan  is an artivist, documentary filmmaker, curator and cultural writer.

Ramadan’s fields of speciality include the history of constructed media, the fusion of informative art with aesthetic journalism, and the history of visuality. His latest project Maldives To Be or Not deals with social and political science, climatology and nature in relation to culture.

He co-curated and organised, among others, the Maldives Pavilion at the 55th Venice Biennale 2013, Manifesta 8 (2010, Spain), Guangzhou Triennial(Guangdong Museum of Modern Art), projects for UCCA (2008, Beijing) and Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (2007, Madrid).

His works and projects have been shown around the world at major museums, film festivals and TV stations. In 2009, Al-Jazeera TV produced a documentary about the artist’s activities. Ramadan is a member of the International Association of Curators of Contemporary Art (IKT) and the International Association of Art Critics (AICA).
