Waqas Khan

Born in Akhtarabad, 1982 and lives in Lahore, Pakistan

He did his early education in his hometown. In the beginning, his family did not notice his artistic aptitudes and way of thinking, that was different from other people. Being very sensitive about nature and the beautiful universe we live in, he soon found out that art could be a perfect medium of expression for his ideas and thoughts.

His mother’s role was quite instrumental and conducive for the growth of his art education. In 2003 his dream began to take place, when he left to Lahore where he got admitted in the prestigious art institute National College of Arts. After graduating in a Bachellor of Fine Arts he has been showing his work in international galleries.

His work has been shown at international art fairs all around the world such as Art Basel Miami Beach, Art Dubai, Artissima, Art Basel, Frieze London, India Art Summit, Art Basel Hong Kong, Art Stage Singapore, among others, and in different events in Mumbai (Mumbai Gallery Weekend 2012), Tokyo (Indian art for Tokyo), Moscow, London, New Delhi, Vienna, Madrid, Karachi and Lahore (solo and group shows).

Waqas Khan’s works are part of prestigious institutions’ collections such as the British Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum, in London; the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art and the Devi Foudation, both in New Delhi, India.
