John Latham (John Aubrey Clarendon Latham) was a conceptual artist, born in Zambia and he dead in 2006 in the United Kingdom. He studied at the Winchester College, and after the Second World War he started to study art, firstly at the Regent Street Polytechnic, and then at the Chelsea College of Art and Design. In 1951 he married the artist Barbara Steveni in Westminster. He used to work with spray that was his primary medium, and in addition Latham tore, sawed, chewed and burnt books to create collage material for his work. His artistic career was influenced by Performance art, and in particular by the Fluxus movement.
