Maria Morganti

Born in Milan in 1965, Maria Morganti trained between Milan and New York before moving to Venice in 1990.

From 2001, the year her son Piero was born, the artist began a profound process of reflection on everything that had happened and was about to happen in her life and in the course of her artistic practice.

In 2010 she began working on her archive. In 2016 she made it accessible to the public through the online platform “Un archivio del tempo” – a work in continuous transformation, the symbolic space the artist inhabits alongside the physical space of her studio – and in 2023 she founded the committee for the Archivio di Maria Morganti together with her husband Luca Pes, her son Piero Pes, archivist Barbara Garatti, and art historians Cristina Baldacci and Elena Volpato. Since 2024 the archive has formally become a third-sector organisation.
