Artist
Marija Jaensch
Marija Jaensch is an artist who opens dialogues with paintings from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. Her large-scale, multi-layered textiles result from labour-intensive manual processes and in-depth academic research. She recently introduced the medium glass into her art-historical exchange with the past.
In 2015, Marija founded her quilt studio in Berlin. She has been an artist-in-residence at Lapis Lazuli: artE, Venice in 2023 and was part of the subsequent group exhibition ‘H2O Venezia: Diari d’acqua / Water Diaries’, parallel to the 60th international art exhibition ‘Stranieri ovunque / Foreigners Everywhere’ of La Biennale di Venezia in 2024.
