Marilisa Cosello

Marilisa Cosello (Salerno, 1978) lives and works in Milan. She holds a degree in Film History and a Master in Photography from the Noorderlicht School in the Netherlands, and studied with François Cheval at the Musée Nicéphore Niépce in France. She worked for five years as a photojournalist before moving towards a conceptual practice, founded on the conviction that reality does not exist as a given, but as a construction to be dismantled and reassembled. Her research focuses on the forms through which power articulates and renders itself visible — in bodies, institutions, aesthetic codes and collective narratives — interrogating its mechanisms of legitimation and strategies of naturalisation. She has exhibited at, among others, M9 Museum Venice, Palazzo delle Esposizioni Rome, Museo Palazzo Riso Palermo, Musei di Santa Giulia Brescia, Fotografie Forum Frankfurt, Circulation(s) Festival Paris and Palazzo Forti Verona. She is represented by Galleria Studio G7.
