Between 2004 and 2009 she studied painting at the Fine Arts Academy in Gdańsk in Professor Mieczysław Olszewski’s studio. She also continued her studies with an additional course in intermedia with Wojciech Zamiara. In 2007 she studied for a semester at Marmara University in Istanbul.
She won 3rd prize in the Geppert competition (2011) and audience awards at the Art Biennale in Gdańsk (2012). In 2015 she received the following prizes: in the Culture and Art category of  the ‘Polacy z werwą’ competition, in the Culture category of the ‘Pomorski Sztorm’ competition, newcomer of the year and a nomination for the main prize at Splendor Gedensis, and the City of Gdańsk award for young artists. In 2016 she was nominated for Polityka’s Passport.
In her work Honorata Martin uses different forms of art. The starting point of her work is the observation of deepest emotion to, as she says, ‘build atmosphere’. She is interested in the strong emotions which accompany fighting our own limits and fears, searching for limits of psychological, physical and emotional strength, which she tries to present trough both brutal and humorous forms. One of her first videos, made during her studies, was Zimno / Cold. In this work of art Martin sat on a roof in her swimsuit, trying to win over the -30 degrees cold by reading Ryszard Kapuściński’s Heban. As we read in Joanna Kobylt’s text in the catalogue of the Curator Libera: Artist in the Times of Hopelessness.
