Born in Belo Horizonte in 1934, Wilma Martins expresses her art through printmaking, drawing and painting. Very collected, we had a quiet career, but recognized. Many remember the work and not the name. She participated in the International Biennials of São Paulo 1967 Ljubljana [in 1967], Biella / Italy (1971), Santiago, Chile, Puerto Rico, Venice [1978], Cali / Colombia, Triennale Carpi / Italy and Xylon V, Geneva and Berlin [1969]. Won the Itamaraty Award this International Biennial, National Hall of the Foreign Travel Prize of Modern Art in 1975 and the Grand Prize of the Panorama of Current Brazilian Art in 1976, the São Paulo Museum of Modern Art. Gilberto Chateaubriand is the single largest collector of Wilma Martins. He has nine drawings and two paintings of Everyday Life series, the years 1970-80, and a woodcut of the 1960s Works Wilma Martins integrate the collections of the National Museum of Fine Arts, RJ; MAC Niterói / Collection Sattamini, RJ; Museum Josquin Desprez, Niterói, RJ; MAM São Paulo; MEM Paraná, Curitiba; Art Museum of Pampulha, Belo Horizonte; Inconfidência Museum, Ouro Preto, MG; Sul América Seguros, SP; Pratt Graphics Center, New York, and Museum of Modern Art La Tertulia, Cali / Colombia.
