Nina Khemchyan
Born in Yerevan, 1964 and lives in Paris
After having completed a course of study in Visual and Dramatic Arts at the National Institute of Fine Arts in Yerevan, the artist continued her studies at the National School of Art and Design in Paris.
Like a demiurge, Nina Khemchyan sculpts perceptions of the earth and the beings that inhabit it. Working the line and oxides, she engraves bodies on to a spherical support, The planets, spheres or balls thus created are besieged by bodies contrasting on the backgrounds in positive or negative, impressive occupation of space in a contemporary ballet scenography, a trifle erotic, a trifle humorous…
Since 1990, NINA has exposed her work in salons and galleries in Yerevan, then in Paris, Luxembourg, Los Angeles, Milan, Brussels. The Armenian Museum of Contemporary Art has just purchased several of her works.
