Projek Rabak

Projek Rabak is an artist collective originated in Ipoh, Perak, the northern part of Malaysia since 2011. Originally the intention of its foundation is to share and spread the love of the arts, according to its founder, Mohd Jayzuan. After a few small and intimate events the collective gathered followers and expanded to include artists from various backgrounds: musicians, poets, painters, filmmakers, theatre activists, mime artists and many more. The collective also has established themselves an artspace named Khizanat and publishing house; Rabak-Lit which focuses on experimental and alternative type of new writings by local talents. Since 2012, the collective also contributed on celebrating local talents, artists and entrepreneurs through organising arts festivals around Ipoh and also Kuala Lumpur, namely ‘Pesta Rabak’ and ‘Ipoh Kreative’. Through the networks such as the British Council, Goethe-Institut, and Kakiseni (an NGO led by Low Ngai Yuen), the collective is actively involved in empowering local talent with knowledge, exposure and collaborative efforts.
