Artist
Man Ray
Emmanuel Radnitzky (Philadelphia, 1890 – Paris, 1976), better known as Man Ray, was born in the United States into a Russian-Jewish family. He adopted his pseudonym in 1909 after moving to New York, where he became involved in the art scene and in the city’s avant-garde circles. A key figure of Dadaism in New York, he moved to Paris in 1921, joining the Dada and Surrealist artists. Throughout his work in painting, photography, and filmmaking, he remained committed to innovation, constantly experimenting with techniques that expanded the expressive potential of his chosen materials and media.
