Artist
Stéphanie Saadé
Born in Lebanon, 1983 and lives in Beirut and Paris
Stéphanie Saadé studied at ENSBA (Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts), Paris (2005-10) and the China Academy of Arts (2010-12). Stéphanie Saadé’s work is centred around objects that are chosen, fabricated or displayed by – as what the artist describes as “someone else than herself”- aiming to give their rough or mundane appearance a poetical dimension. Saadé genuinely avoids creating new shapes. Rather she prefers to use pre-existing objects, which she adjusts with subtle changes. In a way her use of industrial materials could be understood as a desire of utilising basic elements into sculptural ones, marking their presence with a subjective importance.
