Saint-Etienne Yéanzi

Yéanzi was born 1988 in Katiola, Côte d’Ivoire, lives and works in Bingerville.

Graduated in painting and photography at the Lycée d’Enseignement Artistique of Cocody and the National School of Arts in Abidjan, where he graduated in 2012. Yéanzi, a street art enthusiast, worked as a commissioned portrait painter for ten years.

Since 2013, he has been pursuing personal work using melt plastic material. He thus modifies his relationship to the portrait and paint without painting, the people around him on a daily basis. In this process, he collects everyone’s stories, uses their assumed name as a title, their remarkable identity, the mask they wear in society, to reveal their personality behind them.
