Sofia Berakha
Sofía Berakha is an Argentinian artist who was born in 1984.
Her practice has developed between Buenos Aires, Berlin and Hamburg. After studying fashion and textile design at the Universidad de Palermo, she completed the postgraduate programme at Universidad Torcuato Di Tella before earning an MFA from the Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Hamburg.
She has presented solo exhibitions at Lodos in Mexico City, 3rd Floor in Berlin, Aldo de Sousa Gallery and Big Sur Gallery in Buenos Aires. Her work has also been included in numerous group shows across Latin America, the United States and Europe, including exhibitions at Echo in Cologne, Galerie Rolando Anselmi and Galerie Frankfurt am Main in Berlin, and Casa Nacional del Bicentenario in Buenos Aires.
Her practice has been recognised with several awards and grants such as the Colección Amalita de Fortabat Award, the National Painting Prize, the Andreani Foundation Prize, and the Fundación Federico Klemm Prize. Since 2017, she has also been the co-founder of Fantazia, an artist-run project space in Buenos Aires.
