Artist

Manuel Solano

Born in Mexico City, 1987

Born in Mexico City, Manuel Solano experimented a radical shift in his career after he lost his sight in 2014. While he begun working with videos and internet-based art, from this event on the artist has been working exclusively with painting, mixing various references and pop imagery to describe  his intimate world. In his pieces, Solano expresses his identity as a transgender person living with HIV, often addressing memories, identity, and the artist’s past as a means of making sense of the present. He studied at ENPEG La Esmeralda (Mexico City), ENSBA (Lyon, France) and UDLA (Puebla) and he exhibited his works individually and collectively around the world.
