Tobias Spichtig

Tobias Spichtig is an artist who currently lives and works in Berlin and Zürich. His performances, paintings and sculptures deal with the mythological aspects of the everyday, and fictional narratives of the present.
With recent works ranging from filling gallery space with mattresses or used refrigerators to live theatrical performances, Tobias Spichtig is frequently inspired by the mundane, the mystical, and the architectural. By absorbing the conditions of viewing into the very texture of the work, Spichtig continually reframes the reciprocity of individual and collective modes of reception. His work has recently been shown and performed at the Swiss Institute in New York, the Kölnischer Kunstverein, Cologne; Kunsthalle Zürich, Zürich; and the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles among others.
