Beatrix Szörényi

Born in Düsseldorf, 1976 and lives in Düsseldorf

Born in 1976 in Düsseldorf,Germany, and having spent most of her artistically active years in Budapest, Beatrix Szörényi currently lives in Düsseldorf again. After studies of Visual Communication at the GHK Kassel and the Moholy-Nagy University in Budapest, she graduated from the Intermedia faculty of the University of Fine Arts in Budapest. She works in various media and makes use of a diverse set of materials combining, transforming and expanding them into the space as well. A thoughtful attention, responsiveness to the subject and a subtile research-based attitude create a common platform for her works that present thought-provoking metaphors, and simple but layered representations of socially charged objects and phenomena. Her works have been shown amongst others at the OFF-Biennale Budapest (2015), at Karlin Studios in Prague (2015), at Trafo Gallery in Budapest (2013), at MODEM in Debrecen (2013), at CHB in Berlin (2012), or at Bunkier Sztuki in Krakkow (2010). Szörényi was nominated for the Förderpreis für Bildende Kunst in Düsseldorf (2015), and received various fellowships e.g. at Futura in Prague in 2015, at Cité Internationales des Artes in Paris in 2009, and at Museumsquartier in Vienna in 2010.
