Vânia Gala

Vânia Gala is a choreographer and researcher, currently leading the MA Expanded Dance Practice program at the London Contemporary Dance School.

Her interests lie in experimental practices with an emphasis on notions of refusal, choreo-thinking, fugitivity, improvisation(s), black (non) performances, negotiation, dissensus, hospitality and value. As a choreographer, she has collaborated with multiple contemporary artists and theatre companies.
In 2019 she was awarded Best Choreography by Theatre Guide (PT). Gala is the coordinator of the Theater, Performance and Philosophy group of the Theater and Performance Research Association and EDI-ELIA (European League of Arts Institutes).
