Artist

Yae Jee Min

Yae Jee Min is an interdisciplinary artist. She holds an MFA and a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, as well as a BA in Psychology from Boston University. Using intersecting methodologies of painting and craft, she investigates nostalgia through abstraction and materiality.

Through whimsical and childlike, haphazard zones, she creates spaces in which memory, nostalgia, and identity engage and entangle with one another. Whether addressing domestic moments, sleep deprivation, mental illness, or femininity, her work approaches these familiar territories with playfulness, inviting viewers into these moments safely and allowing polemical ideas to be softened by notions of blanket-like warmth.

Her work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally, including at the Seoul Museum of Art, the Torrance Art Museum, and DfbrL8r Gallery.
