Charlotte Posenenske: Work in Progress

Dia:Beacon, 3 Beekman Street, Beacon

The exhibition is the first North American retrospective of Charlotte Posenenske and the most comprehensive ever dedicated to her practice.
“Work in Progress” spans her twelve-year career, before the German artist left the art field to pursue the study of labour.

On view a wide variety of pieces, both original prototypes and newly fabricated items, ranging from the earliest experimental ones, to her aluminum wall-reliefs and to her final modular sculptures. Her works develop a sort of mass-produced Minimalism, characterised by industrial fabrication, minimal geometry and serial repetition. Through them, Posenenske aimed to discuss the most pressing issues related with the socio-economic context of the decade. The exhibition, in fact, also aims to recover her critical  and artistic contributions to the Minimal and Conceptual movements.
