PAV – Parco Arte Vivente
An open-air exhibition site and an interactive museum to develop a dialogue between art and nature.
PAV – Parco Arte Vivente is an experimental contemporary art centre conceived by artist Piero Gilardi and directed by Enrico Bonanate. It comprising an open-air exhibition park and an interactive museum, designed as spaces for encounters and hands-on experiences exploring the dialogue between art and nature, biotechnology and ecology, artists and the public.
The park is an evolving green space occupying approximately 23,000 square metres of former industrial land. Alongside Trèfle, an environmental installation by artist Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster (2006), and Jardin Mandala, a garden designed by landscape architect Gilles Clément (2010), the park hosts ongoing relational and participatory projects.
The Art Program brings together Italian and international artists to create contemporary artworks and installations, both permanent and temporary, across the outdoor park and indoor exhibition spaces. The programme explores the concept of Art of the Living, an approach encompassing several strands of contemporary practice, including bio-art, biotech art, transgenic art and ecological art.
PAV’s educational and training activities invite the public to engage directly with artists through workshops and seminars. The programme is open to a wide range of audiences and includes guided tours, professional development courses for teachers and cultural practitioners, and activities for students of all ages and adults.
