Kulturstiftung Basel H. Geiger – KBH.G
A new cultural foundation dedicated to to provide the City of Basel with an innovative and unique platform for art and artists
Opened in August 2020, Kulturstiftung Basel H. Geiger was founded in 2019 by artist and philanthropist Sibylle Piermattei-Geiger (1930—2020) and her husband Rocco Piermattei-Geiger, who named the foundation after her grandfather, Swiss pharmacist and entrepreneur Hermann Geiger (1870—1962). The Foundation offers a year-round programme of free-admission exhibitions in a former industrial building in central Basel. The annual programme features three exhibitions per year, independent for contents and curatorial concepts, to represent the varied cultural scenario of Basel. The inaugural exhibition is commissioned by the Caribbean Art Initiative, a not-for-profit programme dedicated to the promotion and support of Caribbean arts and culture.
