Palazzo Manfrin – Anish Kapoor Foundation
Anish Kapoor chose Venice as the future seat of his foundation.
Palazzo Priuli Manfrin has a unique architectural presence in Venice: its imposing, bare façade appears almost as a precursor to Rationalist design. Acquired in 1788 by Count Girolamo Manfrin, the palace soon became home to his remarkable art collection, which included masterpieces such as Giorgione’s The Old Woman and The Tempest, now housed at the Gallerie dell’Accademia. In recent times, the building has been selected as the base of the Anish Kapoor Foundation, transforming it into a contemporary art centre with a permanent collection of the artist’s key works and a programme of temporary exhibitions. This creates a compelling dialogue between past and present, establishing a continuous exchange between historical heritage and contemporary artistic practice in the heart of Venice.
