Cabinet London
Cabinet has been a fixture on the scene for 20 years, moving from Brixton and Farringdon to its current spot on Old Street. But, despite being a favourite of heavyweight curators for showing great artists like Enrico David and Mark Leckey, it keeps a low-key public profile.
Cabinet, in Vauxhall, located on the edge of Spring Gardens (formerly Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens) offers a landmark for the arts in Lambeth, as well as helping drive regeneration of the surrounding area.
Cabinet has brought about an artistic rebirth of the famous local gardens, once a historic centre for leisure and culture in London. The building hosts two floors of exhibition space with one floor exclusively for shows, whilst the other incorporates exhibitions into a communal area, alongside the gallery’s archive and library. In addition to their exhibition programme Cabinet hosts talks, readings, screenings and other events. There are also living quarters for an artist in residence.
