Carlier | Gebauer Madrid
Founded in 1991 and directed by Marie-Blanche Carlier and Ulrich Gebauer, the gallery promotes international contemporary art and represents over 30 artists. Its programme focuses on aesthetic and conceptual exploration across sculpture, installation, film, photography, painting, and drawing.
Rather than following a specific theoretical framework, the gallery provides artists with a professional space to experiment, fostering a diverse range of positions and an independent profile. The spacious Markgrafenstrasse 67 location, a former industrial hall in the historic press district, accommodates large-scale installations in a museum-like setting. In March 2019, the gallery opened a new space in Madrid.
The gallery has been a key platform for artists’ development, producing exhibitions that have led to participation in major biennials and solo shows in prominent international museums.
