Galería Hilario Galguera

Founded by Hilario Galguera and Rosa María Ortega, Galería Hilario Galguera opened in Mexico City in 2006 as a space for the discussion and promotion of Mexican and international contemporary art, debuting with a solo exhibition by Damien Hirst titled “The Death of God. Towards a Better Understanding of Life without God aboard the Ship of Fools.” Since then, the gallery has exhibited and promoted the work of artists distinguished by conceptually, socially, politically and formally complex proposals, as well as by aesthetic rigour and precision. The gallery places special emphasis on producing public, editorial and institutional projects—activities it considers key to fostering meaningful engagement and connection with the public.

El cuarto de máquinas was conceived by Hilario Galguera in 2010 in Berlin as a platform of limitless possibilities, dedicated to the inclusion of independent and experimental projects whose location and duration are defined by their specific needs. “El cuarto de máquinas” collaborates with artists, curators and writers from both the national and international art scenes.
