In 2023, Mendes Wood DM opened a gallery in Paris, marking a significant moment in the gallery’s ongoing global expansion. Located on the first two floors of the historic Hôtel de l’Escalopier on Place des Vosges, the space brings the gallery’s distinct vision—rooted in conceptual practices, political engagement, and regional diversity—to the Marais district. As with its locations in São Paulo, Brussels, and New York, the Paris space fosters a platform for critical dialogue and cultural exchange, while amplifying voices from the Global South in conversation with the European context. The setting itself—an early 17th-century townhouse at the entrance of Paris’s oldest planned square—mirrors the gallery’s ethos: thoughtful, layered, and internationally minded. With an emphasis on intellectually rigorous exhibitions, the gallery continues to deepen its relationships with artists and audiences through a program that bridges geographies, histories, and ideas.
