Kunst Raum Riehen

Situated in the historic Berowergut, this institution occupies 18th and 19th-century farm buildings that have been architecturally adapted for modern exhibition needs. The venue maintains a diverse programme within the spectrum of visual arts, featuring projects that focus on specific artistic themes or the work of selected artists. Since 2022, the exhibitions have been developed by a curator in collaboration with the Commission Fine Arts of the municipality of Riehen.

The facility comprises six distinct exhibition spaces across three floors, as well as a courtyard. The programme often explores the relationship between interior and exterior spaces, incorporating interventions in the courtyard and other locations to increase awareness of art in the public sphere. These projects frequently create dialogues between contemporary and historical contexts or bridge the visual arts with other disciplines. Mediation activities, including talks, lectures, and guided tours, are central to the mission of fostering contact between artists and the public. Particular emphasis is placed on educational programming for children and young people to encourage a deeper understanding of visual art forms.
