Museo d’Art Contemporanea di Roma (MACRO)
Via Nizza, 138 00198 Roma, Lazio
The MACRO is located in the Roman Salario-Nomentano district and occupies part of the complex that the Birra Peroni Company used for its production activities.
The area between via Reggio Emilia, via Nizza, and via Cagliari was purchased by the Birra Peroni Company on November 24, 1911, and the following year, based on the design by architect Gustavo Giovannoni, the construction of the buildings began. These buildings, now occupied by MACRO, were originally intended for stables and warehouses. The complex represents a rare example of industrial archaeology in the city.
