The Rubell Museum Miami opened in Allapattah in December 2019 within six interconnected former industrial warehouses redesigned by Selldorf Architects. Originally launched in 1993 as the Rubell Family Collection, it was renamed the Rubell Museum to reflect its public mission and broaden audience access. Spread across a single level, the museum includes 36 galleries, a restaurant, a flexible performance space, a bookstore, and a courtyard garden planted with native South Florida flora.
The museum runs an internship programme, partners with Miami-Dade County Public Schools, hosts a public lecture series, maintains a research library with over 40,000 volumes, and operates an extensive artwork loan programme supporting exhibitions at museums worldwide.
The Rubell Museum’s collection is notable for its breadth and depth, enabling more than 50 exhibitions over the past three decades, drawn entirely from its holdings in painting, sculpture, photography, video, and installation.
