Title: Persistence
Artist: Louise Nevelson
Curator: Julia Bryan-Wilson
Organized by: The Louise Nevelson Foundation

In Venice, a major exhibition of Louise Nevelson, a revolutionary figure in American abstraction, celebrates the inauguration of the Procuratie Vecchie in St Mark’s Square after lengthy restoration work.
The exhibition highlights the relationship between Louise Nevelson’s work as a sculptor and her lifelong practice of collages and wall assemblages. The sculptural collages and assemblages will be presented in dialogue with the large-scale works, shedding light on the fundamentals of the creative process, but also on her interest in unconventional materials such as raw wood, metal, cardboard, sandpaper and aluminium film.
