Talk with Lita Cerqueira
To celebrate the Black Consciousness Month, Ateliê da Imagem organized a talk with photographer Lita Cerqueira (b. 1952, Salvador) for this month’s Free Friday. Cerqueira has been exclusively working with photography since 1973, focused on the condition of the Brazilian black men. Throughout these years, she has registred some of the most important performers of Brazilian popular music, such as Gilberto Gil, Maria Bethânia, and Gal Costa. She has published her photos in book, magazines, and disc covers. She participated in many shows in Brazil and in France, Italy and Germany.
The Free Friday is organized since 1999, gathering several artistic manifestations related to photography, video, cinema, music, and performance. The events are open to the public, and feature photo projections, lectures, talks and debates. Since its creation, hundreds of editions were presented, with the participation of more than 700 artists and researchers.
The event is free and starts at 7:30 pm.
