The emergence of video as support is part of the art history of the late twentieth century. The lecture held by the researcher and curator John Hadhardt, situates the seminal production of Bill Viola – whose exhibition “Visions of Time” is on display at Sesc Avenida Paulista – as an artist in the context of the history of video art. Early-stage single-channel videos and Viola’s installations are tackled alongside the work of artists such as Nam June Paik, Yang Fudong and Isaac Julien.
