Oliver Laric: Betweenness
Oliver Laric's first solo exhibition in the Netherlands features an ever-changing animation on organic life and metamorphosis.
The Stedelijk Museum hosts “Betweenness”, Oliver Laric’s first solo museum exhibition in the Netherlands. The artist uses different media such as video, 3D-printed sculpture, and installation art to explore the processes and ambiguities of our contemporary visual culture.
The exhibition features an animation recently gifted to the Stedelijk Museum by Modern Forms, London, realized by Laric on the basis of a reflection on organic phenomena. The animation shows an ever-changing set of essential lines, which continuously reassembles into images of animals, plants, fungi, and humanoid figures, accompanied by a score composed by musician and producer Ville Haimala.
With this operation, Laric aims to shed a light on the state of “betweenness” that occurs in processes of transformation and metamorphosis.
