A World Not Ours
The group show presents various works of international artists who have focused on the current refugee crisis and issues of forced displacement related to the war in Syria as well as other conflict zones. The show includes paintings, sculptures, photographs, videos, installations and direct action, mostly made by artists and activists coming from the Middle East or South-Eastern Europe, from countries that have experienced war, exodus and perilousness first hand.
The exhibition aims at creating a profound picture of the refugee crisis, which is so often very limitedly and inconsistently broadcasted and only presenting a one-dimensional picture of the issues occurring worldwide. Instead, it looks into the before and after of these dramatic moments. It does not only present the situations during flight, but as well the settling in and building a new life, that the refugees are experiencing. Further, various works present the way European citizens are experiencing and dealing with the migration developments.
The exhibition is co-produced with Schwarz Foundation.
